Its Luster all the way!!

Hello All,

Its been some time that i have posted on my pottery blog! well here I am...

In my last update I talked about my first firing that I did, this was bisque firing. Soon after I got the opportunity to got along with a group of experienced potters here in New Delhi. They were experimenting with luster glazing.

Well, it was my first time glazing and going straight to Luster ware was a bit of a long leap. But anyway encouraged by a few I took the leap. We did this over two days in Dec. It was still not as cold and we had some real fun at those firings.

We used what is called "Spanish Luster Technique", this is a special way of firing. Here special luster glazes are fired in a reducing atmosphere. A bit dangerous I would say!!!!

I am attaching a picture of some of good pots that came out for me. Overall very happy, good results, learned and advanced technique and met some really cool potters!!! I will also post soon some more pictures of us in action!!

Well that brought me towards end of Dec 09 and it meant sweeping cold waves in Delhi. This time its been bad cold and that had prevented me from going over to my studio and making some pots.

Its beginning to be less foggy and bit sunny here now, so hopefully I will resume my throwing very soon and get back into what I have come to love over the past year!!
